Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
गच्चन्तु इति ततः सर्वे वसिष्ठम् वाक्यम् अब्रुवन् ।
तेषाम् तत् वचनम् श्रुत्वा वसिष्ठो वाक्यम् अब्रवीत् ॥२-६८-४॥
gaccantu iti tataḥ sarve vasiṣṭham vākyam abruvan |
teṣām tat vacanam śrutvā vasiṣṭho vākyam abravīt ॥2-68-4॥
Translation
Then all of them said to Vasistha, 'Let them go!'. Having heard their words of agreement, Vasistha spoke again.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तब उन सभी ने वशिष्ठ जी से कहा, "वे (दूत) जाएँ!"। उनका यह वचन (सहमति) सुनकर वशिष्ठ जी ने पुनः (विशिष्ट) बात कही।
English Commentary
This verse depicts the consensus between the Rajaguru and the council of ministers. The assembly unanimously ratifies Vasistha's proposal with the chant 'Gachhantu' (Let them go). This ratification allows Vasistha to proceed with specific operational details. It highlights the collaborative nature of the governance in Ayodhya, even in a crisis.

यह श्लोक लोकतांत्रिक प्रक्रिया जैसा दृश्य प्रस्तुत करता है। यद्यपि वशिष्ठ जी आदेश दे सकते थे, फिर भी उन्होंने सभा की सहमति ली। जब पूरी सभा ने एक स्वर में "गच्छन्तु" (जाएँ) कहा, तब वशिष्ठ जी ने अगले चरण के निर्देश दिए। यह 'मंत्रणा' (Consultation) की वैदिक परंपरा है। अब वशिष्ठ जी विशिष्ट निर्देश देंगे कि दूतों को क्या करना है और क्या नहीं।
