एहि सिद्ध अर्थ विजय जयन्त अशोक नन्दन ।
श्रूयताम् इतिकर्तव्यम् सर्वान् एव ब्रवीमि वः ॥२-६८-५॥
ehi siddha artha vijaya jayanta aśoka nandana |
śrūyatām itikartavyam sarvān eva bravīmi vaḥ ॥2-68-5॥
Translation
Come, Siddhartha, Vijaya, Jayanta, Ashoka, and Nandana! Listen to what needs to be done; I am telling all of you.

आओ, सिद्धार्थ, विजय, जयंत, अशोक और नन्दन! तुम सब सुनो कि तुम्हें क्या करना है, मैं तुम सभी को (कार्य) बता रहा हूँ।
English Commentary
Vasistha summons five trusted messengers by name. The names themselves—Siddhartha (Accomplished Goal), Vijaya (Victory), Jayanta (Victorious), Ashoka (Sorrow-less), Nandana (Joyous)—are auspicious, perhaps chosen intentionally to counteract the gloom of the occasion. He calls them to brief them on their sensitive diplomatic mission. This is not just a delivery task; it requires tact and secrecy, hence the direct briefing by the High Priest.

वशिष्ठ जी नाम लेकर पांच विशिष्ट दूतों को बुलाते हैं। ये नाम—सिद्धार्थ (जिसका कार्य सिद्ध हो), विजय, जयंत, अशोक (शोक रहित), नन्दन (आनंद देने वाला)—स्वयं में शुभ शकुन हैं। वशिष्ठ जी 'इतिकर्तव्यम्' (Duty/Procedure) समझा रहे हैं। यह एक अत्यंत गोपनीय और संवेदनशील मिशन है, इसलिए वे विश्वसनीय दूतों को ही चुनते हैं। यह दर्शाता है कि राज्य के पास ऐसे संकटों के लिए प्रशिक्षित अधिकारी तैयार थे।
