एवं एतन् मया दृष्टम् इमाम् रात्रिम् भय आवहाम् ।
अहम् रामः अथ वा राजा लक्ष्मणो वा मरिष्यति ॥ ॥२-६९-१७॥
Evam etan mayā dṛṣṭam imām rātrim bhaya āvahām । Aham rāmaḥ atha vā rājā lakṣmaṇo vā mariṣyati ॥ ॥2-69-17॥
Translation
Thus have I seen this vision during this terrifying night. It implies that either I, Rama, the King, or Lakshmana will die.
हिंदी अनुवाद
इस प्रकार मैंने इस डरावनी रात में यह स्वप्न देखा है। (इसका अर्थ यह है कि) या तो मैं, या राम, या राजा, या लक्ष्मण—हममें से कोई एक अवश्य मृत्यु को प्राप्त होगा।
English Commentary
Bharata concludes his narration with a stark interpretation. He understands that the omens point to the death of a male member of the royal family. By listing himself, Rama, the King, and Lakshmana, he shows the collective bond of the four brothers and their father. It highlights his anxiety; he does not know exactly who has fallen, but the intensity of the dream leaves him with the certainty that the royal lineage has suffered a fatal blow.

भरत यहाँ स्वप्न का फलितार्थ (conclusion) निकाल रहे हैं। वे जानते हैं कि ऐसा भयानक स्वप्न रघुकुल के प्रमुख पुरुषों के लिए संकट का सूचक है। यद्यपि वे 'मैं, राम या लक्ष्मण' भी कहते हैं, लेकिन उनका अंतर्मन राजा के लिए सबसे अधिक चिंतित है। यह श्लोक भरत के अपने परिवार के प्रति प्रेम और एक अज्ञात भय को दर्शाता है। वे केवल स्वयं के लिए नहीं डर रहे, बल्कि अपने भाइयों और पिता के लिए आशंकित हैं।
