दत्त्वा त्वाभरणं तस्यै कुब्जायै प्रमदोत्तमा ।
कैकेयी मन्थरां हृष्टा पुनरेवाब्रवीदिदम् ॥ ॥२-७-३३॥
Dattvā tvābharaṇaṃ tasyai kubjāyai pramadottamā |
Kaikeyī mantharāṃ hṛṣṭā punarevābravīdidam ॥2-7-33॥
Translation
Having given that ornament to the hunchback, Kaikeyi, the best among women, spoke these words to Manthara again with great delight.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वह सुंदर आभूषण उस कुबड़ी (मन्थरा) को देकर, स्त्रियों में श्रेष्ठ (प्रमदोत्तमा) कैकेयी ने प्रसन्न होकर फिर से यह वचन कहा।
English Commentary
The epithet 'Pramadottamā' (best among women) is used for Kaikeyi here, highlighting her noble and generous nature at this moment. She is completely oblivious to the bitterness seething within Manthara. For Kaikeyi, Rama's coronation is such a joyous occasion that her natural instinct is to reward the messenger, even if that messenger is acting strangely. This verse highlights the stark emotional contrast: Manthara is consumed by jealousy, while Kaikeyi is immersed in love. This behavior serves as the calm before the storm, emphasizing Kaikeyi's initial innocence before her corruption.
