राजन् पितुर् गमिष्यामि सकाशम् दूत चोदितः ।
पुनर् अपि अहम् एष्यामि यदा मे त्वम् स्मरिष्यसि ॥ ॥२-७०-१५॥
Rājan pitur gamiṣyāmi sakāśam dūta coditaḥ |
Punar api aham eṣyāmi yadā me tvam smariṣyasi ॥2-70-15॥
Translation
O King! Urged by the messengers, I shall go to my father's presence. I shall come back again whenever you remember me.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे राजन्! दूतों के आग्रह पर मैं अपने पिता के पास जाऊंगा। जब भी आप मुझे स्मरण करेंगे, मैं पुनः आपके पास आ जाऊंगा।
English Commentary
Bharata's request is polite and respectful. He explains that his departure is driven by the messengers' summons, not a desire to leave. By promising to return whenever remembered ('yada me tvam smariṣyasi'), he maintains the bond of affection with his grandfather. There is deep dramatic irony here: Bharata states he is going to his father's presence ('pitur sakāśam'), unaware that King Dasharatha has already passed away. This ignorance amplifies the tragedy awaiting him in Ayodhya.

भरत का यह कथन अत्यंत विनीत है। वे अपने नाना से जाने की आज्ञा मांग रहे हैं, लेकिन साथ ही यह आश्वासन भी दे रहे हैं कि यह विदाई स्थायी नहीं है। "यदा मे त्वम् स्मरिष्यसि" (जब आप मुझे याद करेंगे) कहकर वे अपने ननिहाल के प्रति प्रेम और सम्मान प्रकट करते हैं। यह एक दुखद विडंबना है कि भरत कह रहे हैं कि वे "पिता के पास" जा रहे हैं, जबकि उन्हें अभी तक यह ज्ञात नहीं है कि उनके पिता महाराज दशरथ का स्वर्गवास हो चुका है।
