अन्तः पुरे अतिसम्वृद्धान् व्याघ्र वीर्य बल अन्वितान् ।
दम्ष्ट्र आयुधान् महा कायान् शुनः च उपायनम् ददौ ॥ ॥२-७०-२३॥
Antaḥ pure atisamvṛddhān vyāghra vīrya bala anvitān |
Damṣṭra āyudhān mahā kāyān śunaḥ ca upāyanam dadau ॥2-70-23॥
Translation
He also gave as gifts dogs raised in the inner palace, possessing the strength and valor of tigers, armed with teeth (fangs), and of huge bodies.

(मामा ने) अंतःपुर में पाले-पोसे गए, बाघ के समान पराक्रम और बल वाले, दाढ़ों (दांतों) रूपी शस्त्र वाले और विशाल शरीर वाले कुत्ते भी उपहार में दिए।
English Commentary
This is a famous verse noting the gift of dogs ('shunah'). These were not ordinary pets but large, fierce hounds bred in the royal kennels ('antah pure'). Described as having 'vyaghra virya' (tiger-like valor) and huge bodies, scholars often identify these with powerful breeds like the Indian Mastiff or Bully Kutta, known in the northwestern regions. It highlights the diverse nature of the gifts—ranging from gold to warrior-like animals.
