Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
रथान् मण्डल चक्रामः च योजयित्वा परः शतम् ।
उष्ट्र गो अश्व खरैः भृत्या भरतम् यान्तम् अन्वयुः ॥ ॥२-७०-२९॥
Rathān maṇḍala cakrāmaḥ ca yojayitvā paraḥ śatam |
Uṣṭra go aśva kharaiḥ bhṛtyā Bharatam yāntam anvayuḥ ॥2-70-29॥
Translation
Having yoked more than a hundred chariots with round wheels, servants followed the departing Bharata with camels, oxen, horses, and mules.
हिंदी अनुवाद
गोल पहियों वाले सौ से अधिक रथों को जोतकर, तथा ऊंट, बैल, घोड़े और खच्चरों के साथ सेवक, जाते हुए भरत के पीछे हो लिए।
English Commentary
This verse provides logistical details of the convoy. The inclusion of ushtra (camels) alongside horses and mules gives the text geographical authenticity, placing the setting in the arid northwest region. "Mandal chakram" refers to round/circular wheels, highlighting the quality of the chariots. A retinue of over a hundred chariots signifies a princely movement, ensuring protection and comfort.

यहाँ यात्रा के लवाजमे का विस्तृत वर्णन है। 'उष्ट्र' (ऊंट) का उल्लेख भौगोलिक दृष्टि से महत्वपूर्ण है क्योंकि केकय देश (उत्तर-पश्चिम भारत/पाकिस्तान) में ऊंट यातायात का मुख्य साधन थे। 'मण्डल चक्रामः' (गोल पहियों वाले रथ) उस समय की उन्नत रथ-निर्माण कला को दर्शाते हैं। यह एक बड़ी सेना और सेवकों का समूह है जो भरत के साथ अयोध्या जा रहा है।
