Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
पुरोहितः त्वा कुशलम् प्राह सर्वे च मन्त्रिणः ।
त्वरमाणः च निर्याहि कृत्यम् आत्ययिकम् त्वया ॥ ॥२-७०-३॥
Purohitaḥ tvā kuśalam prāha sarve ca mantriṇaḥ । Tvaramāṇaḥ ca niryāhi kṛtyam ātyayikam tvayā ॥ ॥2-70-3॥
Translation
The Royal Priest (Vasistha) and all the ministers have inquired about your welfare. Please depart with haste, for there is an urgent matter that requires your presence.

(दूतों ने कहा) पुरोहित (वशिष्ठ) और सभी मंत्रियों ने आपका कुशल-क्षेम पूछा है। आप शीघ्रता से चलिए, क्योंकि आपसे जुड़ा एक अत्यंत आवश्यक कार्य आ पड़ा है।
English Commentary
This is a subtle but critical clue. The command to return comes from the Purohita (Priest) and ministers, not King Dasharatha. In a monarchy, the King issues recall orders. The fact that the cabinet is summoning the Prince implies a power vacuum, hinting that the King is dead. The word Atyayikam indicates a crisis or emergency, urging Bharata to leave immediately without asking details.

यह श्लोक बहुत महत्वपूर्ण है। दूत 'राजा दशरथ' का संदेश नहीं दे रहे, बल्कि 'पुरोहित और मंत्रियों' का संदेश दे रहे हैं। सामान्यतः आज्ञा राजा की होती है। भरत को यहीं समझ जाना चाहिए था कि यदि आदेश राजा के बजाय मंत्रियों से आ रहा है, तो राजा अनुपस्थित हैं या असमर्थ हैं। 'आत्ययिकम्' शब्द आपातकाल (emergency) को दर्शाता है, जिससे भरत की चिंता और बढ़ जाती है।
