Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
प्रतिगृह्य च तत् सर्वम् स्वनुरक्तः सुहृज् जने ।
दूतान् उवाच भरतः कामैः सम्प्रतिपूज्य तान् ॥ ॥२-७०-६॥
Pratigṛhya ca tat sarvam svanuraktaḥ suhṛj jane । Dūtān uvāca bharataḥ kāmaiḥ sampratipūjya tān ॥ ॥2-70-6॥
Translation
Bharata, who was affectionate towards his kinsmen and friends, accepted all of it. Having honored the messengers with gifts they desired, he spoke to them.
हिंदी अनुवाद
अपने स्वजनों और मित्रों में स्नेह रखने वाले भरत ने वह सब स्वीकार किया। फिर उन्होंने दूतों का यथेष्ट सत्कार करके उनसे (इस प्रकार) कहा।
English Commentary
Bharata's composure is remarkable here. Despite the inner turmoil caused by his nightmares, he attends to his duties flawlessly. He accepts the gifts, distributes them to his kin (suhṛj jane), and ensures the messengers are well-rewarded and rested before he interrogates them. It portrays him as a gracious host and a disciplined prince who does not let personal anxiety override public duty.

भरत का चरित्र यहाँ निखर कर आता है। भारी मानसिक तनाव और बुरे सपनों के बावजूद, वे अपना संतुलन नहीं खोते। वे पहले उपहार स्वीकार करते हैं, अपने ननिहाल पक्ष को प्रसन्न करते हैं, और थके हुए दूतों का भी सत्कार करते हैं। प्रश्न पूछने से पहले वे उनकी सेवा सुनिश्चित करते हैं। यह एक धैर्यवान और आदर्श व्यक्तित्व का लक्षण है।
