कच्चित् सुकुशली राजा पिता दशरथो मम ।
कच्चिच् च अरागता रामे लक्ष्मणे वा महात्मनि ॥ ॥२-७०-७॥
Kaccit sukuśalī rājā pitā daśaratho mama । Kaccic ca arāgatā rāme lakṣmaṇe vā mahātmani ॥ ॥2-70-7॥
Translation
Is my father, King Dasharatha, well? Is there good health (freedom from trouble) for the high-souled Rama and Lakshmana?

क्या मेरे पिता राजा दशरथ कुशलपूर्वक हैं? क्या महात्मा राम और लक्ष्मण निरोग (स्वस्थ) हैं?
English Commentary
Bharata's inquiries reveal his priorities: his father and his brothers. The question regarding Dasharatha is laden with the anxiety of his recent nightmare. He refers to Rama and Lakshmana as Mahatmani (great-souled ones), showing his deep reverence and lack of jealousy. He is completely unaware of the political storm that has separated these brothers and assumes they are all together in Ayodhya.

भरत का पहला प्रश्न पिता और भाइयों के लिए है। 'अरागता' (रोग/कष्ट का न होना) शब्द का प्रयोग उनके डर को दिखाता है। चूंकि उन्होंने सपने में पिता को मृत्यु के निकट देखा था, इसलिए वे सीधे उनकी कुशलता पूछ रहे हैं। भरत को अभी तक यह नहीं पता कि राम को वनवास दिया गया है, इसलिए वे राम और लक्ष्मण के बारे में भी समान प्रेम से पूछते हैं।
