Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
सूतम् अश्व पतेः क्लान्तम् अब्रवीत् तत्र राघवः ।
किमहम् त्वरयानीतः कारणेन विनानघ ॥ ॥२-७१-३५॥
Sūtam aśva pateḥ klāntam abravīt tatra rāghavaḥ । Kimaham tvarayānītaḥ kāraṇena vinānagha ॥ ॥2-71-35॥
Translation
Then, Bharata, scion of Raghu, spoke to the weary charioteer of the Lord of Horses (Ashvapati): "O sinless one, why have I been brought here with such haste without any apparent reason?"
हिंदी अनुवाद
तब रघुकुल नन्दन भरत ने अश्वपति (अपने मामा) के थके हुए सारथी से पूछा— "हे निष्पाप! मुझे बिना किसी (स्पष्ट) कारण के इतनी शीघ्रता से यहाँ क्यों लाया गया है?"
English Commentary
Unable to contain his anxiety, Bharata finally voices his confusion. Addressing the charioteer as anagha (sinless) indicates that he does not blame the messenger, yet he demands an explanation. The discrepancy between the urgent summons and the silent, gloomy city is too great to ignore. Bharata realizes that the pretext used to bring him back might be false, and he seeks the truth. This moment marks the transition from vague dread to active investigation of the tragedy.

भरत अब अपने संयम को खोते जा रहे हैं और सीधे प्रश्न पूछते हैं। 'अनघ' (निष्पाप) संबोधन का प्रयोग सारथी के प्रति स्नेह और विश्वास दर्शाता है। भरत को यह बात खटक रही है कि उन्हें बुलाने के लिए इतनी जल्दबाजी क्यों की गई, जबकि नगर में उत्सव जैसा कोई माहौल नहीं है। यह प्रश्न उस रहस्य को उजागर करने की शुरुआत है जो भरत से अब तक छिपाया गया था। यहाँ 'राघव' शब्द का प्रयोग भरत के कुल की प्रतिष्ठा को इंगित करता है, जो सत्य जानने का अधिकारी है।
