सरस्वतीम् च गङ्गाम् च उग्मेन प्रतिपद्य च ।
उत्तरम् वीरमत्स्यानाम् भारुण्डम् प्राविशद्वनम् ॥ ॥२-७१-५॥
Sarasvatīm ca Gaṅgām ca ugmena pratipadya ca |
Uttaram vīramatsyānām bhāruṇḍam prāviśadvanam ॥2-71-5॥
Translation
Having reached/crossed the Saraswati and the Ganga (confluence/tributary) with energy, he entered the Bharunda forest situated to the north of the Viramatsya kingdom.

सरस्वती और गंगा के संगम (या दोनों नदियों) को उत्साहपूर्वक पार करके, वे वीरमत्स्य देश के उत्तर में स्थित भारुण्ड वन में प्रविष्ट हुए।
English Commentary
Geographically intriguing, this verse places Bharata at the Saraswati. The mention of "Ganga" here is widely interpreted by historians not as the main Ganges, but either a tributary, a textual variance, or a local river named Ganga near the Saraswati basin in Haryana. He is passing north of the "Viramatsya" region (Alwar/Jaipur area), entering the "Bharunda" forest, confirming a route through the Kurukshetra region.
