दानयज्ञाधिकारा हि शीलश्रुतिवचोनुगा ।
बुद्धिस्ते बुद्धिसम्पन्न प्रभेवार्कस्य मन्दिरे ॥२-७२-२५॥
dānayajñādhikārā hi śīlaśrutivaconugā |
buddhistebuddhisampanna prabhevārkasya mandire ॥2-72-25॥
Translation
"O wise one! Your intellect, which is entitled to charity and sacrifice and follows the dictates of character and scripture, is like the radiance in the orb of the sun."

"हे बुद्धिमान (भरत)! दान और यज्ञ में अधिकार रखने वाली तथा शील और शास्त्रों के वचनों का अनुसरण करने वाली तुम्हारी बुद्धि, सूर्यमण्डल में सूर्य की प्रभा की भाँति (सदा निश्चल और तेजस्वी) है।"
English Commentary
Kaikeyi employs flattery to compose her son. Addressing him as buddhisampanna (endowed with intellect), she praises his adherence to śīla (conduct) and śruti (scripture). By comparing his intellect to the steadfast radiance of the sun (prabhā iva arkasya mandire), she implies that his current emotional breakdown is uncharacteristic of his stature. Kaikeyi is trying to intellectualize the situation, urging him to return to a state of stoic functionality so she can discuss the "good news" of his ascension. She completely misinterprets his grief as a lapse in judgment rather than a necessary expression of filial love.

कैकेयी यहाँ भरत की प्रशंसा (flattery) करके उसे शांत करने का प्रयास कर रही है। वह उसे 'बुद्धिसम्पन्न' कहती है और उसकी तुलना सूर्य की प्रभा से करती है। उसका तर्क है कि भरत जैसे ज्ञानी व्यक्ति, जो दान और यज्ञ के अधिकारी हैं और वेदों ('श्रुति') के अनुसार चलते हैं, उन्हें इस प्रकार शोक नहीं करना चाहिए। यह कैकेयी की रणनीति है: वह भरत के अहंकार और आत्म-सम्मान को जगाकर उसे रोने से रोकना चाहती है ताकि वह उसे 'शुभ समाचार' (राम का वनवास और भरत का राज्याभिषेक) सुना सके। वह यह नहीं समझ पा रही है कि भरत का शोक उनकी दुर्बलता नहीं, बल्कि उनकी पितृ-भक्ति का प्रमाण है।
