Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
सिद्ध अर्थाः तु नरा रामम् आगतम् सीतया सह ।
लक्ष्मणम् च महा बाहुम् द्रक्ष्यन्ति पुनर् आगतम् ॥२-७२-३८॥
Siddha arthāḥ tu narā rāmam āgatam sītayā saha । Lakṣmaṇam ca mahā bāhum drakṣyanti punar āgatam ॥ ॥2-72-38॥
Translation
(Dasharatha said) 'Truly successful/blessed are those men who shall behold Rama returning once again, accompanied by Sita and the mighty-armed Lakshmana.'
हिंदी अनुवाद
(दशरथ ने कहा) वे मनुष्य निश्चित ही कृतार्थ (भाग्यशाली) हैं जो सीता और महाबाहु लक्ष्मण के साथ राम को पुनः अयोध्या लौटते हुए देखेंगे।
English Commentary
This verse encapsulates Dasharatha's dying sentiment. By calling those who will see Rama return 'Siddharthah' (those whose purpose is accomplished/blessed), he implicitly laments his own misfortune in missing that sight. It conveys the King's conviction that seeing Rama is the ultimate fruition of life. For Bharata, this is a heartbreaking revelation; it confirms that not only is his father dead, but Rama is absent, and his return is a distant, uncertain event associated with great longing.

यह श्लोक दशरथ की अंतिम इच्छा और उनकी पीड़ा को व्यक्त करता है। 'सिद्धार्थाः' का अर्थ है वे लोग जिनके प्रयोजन सिद्ध हो गए हैं, अर्थात जो सफल और भाग्यशाली हैं। दशरथ जानते हैं कि वे राम की वापसी देखने के लिए जीवित नहीं रहेंगे। यह भरत के लिए एक संकेत है कि राम अभी अयोध्या में नहीं हैं और निकट भविष्य में लौटने वाले भी नहीं हैं। पिता के मुख से निकले ये शब्द भरत को यह समझाने के लिए पर्याप्त हैं कि राम का वियोग ही दशरथ की मृत्यु का कारण बना।
