Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
न ब्राह्मण धनम् किम्चिद्द् हृतम् रामेण कस्यचित् ।
कश्चिन् न आढ्यो दरिद्रः वा तेन अपापो विहिम्सितः ॥२-७२-४८॥
Na brāhmaṇa dhanam kimcidd hṛtam rāmeṇa kasyacit । Kaścin na āḍhyo daridraḥ vā tena apāpo vihimsitaḥ ॥ ॥2-72-48॥
Translation
(Kaikeyi replied) 'Rama has not seized any Brahmin's wealth whatsoever. Nor has any innocent person, rich or poor, been harmed by him.'
हिंदी अनुवाद
(कैकेयी ने उत्तर दिया) राम ने किसी भी ब्राह्मण का तनिक भी धन नहीं हरण किया है। और न ही उन्होंने किसी निर्दोष को, चाहे वह धनी हो या निर्धन, कष्ट पहुँचाया है।
English Commentary
Kaikeyi vindicates Rama immediately. She confirms he is innocent of the crimes Bharata suspected (theft of Brahmin wealth or harming the innocent). This admission is pivotal. It removes any moral justification for the exile, laying bare that the banishment was purely a result of palace intrigue, not justice. By clearing Rama's name, Kaikeyi unwittingly incriminates herself further in Bharata's eyes, as the 'punishment' now lacks a crime.

कैकेयी तुरंत स्पष्ट करती हैं कि राम पूर्णतः निर्दोष हैं। 'न... किंचित्' (तनिक भी नहीं)—यह स्वीकारोक्ति भरत के लिए और भी आश्चर्यजनक है। यदि राम ने कोई पाप नहीं किया, तो दंड क्यों? कैकेयी की यह स्वीकारोक्ति सिद्ध करती है कि राम का निर्वासन किसी 'न्याय' के कारण नहीं, बल्कि केवल कैकेयी की 'महत्वाकांक्षा' (वरदान) के कारण हुआ है। इससे भरत का क्रोध और भी भड़केगा जब उन्हें पता चलेगा कि अपराधी राम नहीं, बल्कि उनकी अपनी माता है।
