आर्यकस्ते सुकुशलो युधाजिन्मातुलस्तव ।
प्रवासाच्च सुखं पुत्र सर्वं मे वक्तुमर्हसि ॥२-७२-६॥
āryakaste sukuśalo yudhājinmātulastava |
pravāsācca sukhaṃ putra sarvaṃ me vaktumarhasi ॥2-72-6॥
Translation
"Is your grandfather well? Is your uncle Yudhajit well? O Son, you must tell me all about the happiness and details of your stay abroad."

"क्या तुम्हारे नाना और तुम्हारे मामा युधाजित् कुशलपूर्वक हैं? हे पुत्र! तुम मुझे अपने प्रवास का और सब प्रकार के सुख का समाचार बताओ।"
English Commentary
Kaikeyi continues her inquiries by asking about her father (the King of Kekaya) and her brother, Yudhajit. This adherence to social etiquette reinforces the normalcy of the scene from her perspective. She asks about the sukham (happiness/pleasure) of his stay, assuming his time abroad was joyful. The phrase sarvaṃ me vaktumarhasi (you must tell me everything) indicates her desire to hear pleasant news from her childhood home before she breaks the heavy news of Ayodhya to Bharata. It highlights her compartmentalized thinking—she can focus on family welfare while ignoring the devastation she caused in her marital home.

इस श्लोक में कैकेयी अपने मायके (पीहर) के समाचार पूछ रही है। 'आर्यक' (पिता/नाना) और 'युधाजित्' (भाई/मामा) का नाम लेकर वह अपने पारिवारिक संबंधों की पुष्टि करती है। 'प्रवासाच्च सुखं' (प्रवास का सुख) पूछना यह दर्शाता है कि वह मानकर चल रही है कि भरत का समय वहाँ आनंदपूर्वक बीता होगा। यह संवाद कैकेयी की मानसिकता को भी दर्शाता है—वह अपने परिवार (केकय) और अपने पुत्र (भरत) पर केंद्रित है। उसे अभी तक इस बात की जल्दी नहीं है कि वह भरत को अयोध्या के घटनाक्रम (राम वनवास, दशरथ मरण) के बारे में बताए, शायद वह सही समय की प्रतीक्षा कर रही है या भरत के उत्तर का इंतजार कर रही है।
