Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
यत् त्वया धार्मिको रामः नित्यम् सत्य परायणः ।
वनम् प्रस्थापितः दुह्खात् पिता च त्रिदिवम् गतः ॥ ॥२-७४-१०॥
Yat tvayā dhārmiko rāmaḥ nityam satya parāyaṇaḥ । Vanam prasthāpitaḥ duhkhāt pitā ca tridivam gataḥ ॥ ॥2-74-10॥
Translation
Because by you, the righteous Rama, who is ever devoted to truth, was sent to the forest, and due to that grief, father went to heaven.
हिंदी अनुवाद
क्योंकि तुम्हारे द्वारा नित्य सत्य-परायण और धार्मिक राम को वन भेजा गया, और उसी (वियोग के) दुख से पिता स्वर्ग सिधार गए।
English Commentary
Bharata draws a direct causal link between Kaikeyi’s actions and the tragedies that followed. He reiterates Rama's virtues—dhārmika (righteous) and satya parāyaṇaḥ (devoted to truth)—to contrast with the punishment he received. Bharata emphasizes that Dasharatha did not die of natural causes but duhkhāt (from grief) caused by the separation from his son. By sending Rama to the forest, Kaikeyi effectively pulled the trigger that ended the King’s life. This verse serves as a formal indictment of her crimes.

यहाँ भरत कार्य और कारण (Cause and Effect) का स्पष्ट संबंध स्थापित करते हैं। राजा की मृत्यु स्वाभाविक नहीं थी, बल्कि वह 'दुह्खात्' (दुख के कारण) हुई थी। और उस दुख का कारण राम का वनवास था, जिसका कारण कैकेयी थी। राम के लिए 'नित्यम् सत्य परायणः' (सदा सत्य में लीन) विशेषण का प्रयोग करके भरत यह बताते हैं कि राम ने तो कैकेयी के वचन को सत्य करने के लिए वन स्वीकार किया, लेकिन कैकेयी ने धर्म का पालन नहीं किया। यह श्लोक कैकेयी को सीधे तौर पर राजा की मृत्यु का दोषी ठहराता है।
