यत् प्रधाना असि तत् पापम् मयि पित्रा विना कृते ।
भ्रातृभ्याम् च परित्यक्ते सर्व लोकस्य च अप्रिये ॥ ॥२-७४-११॥
Yat pradhānā asi tat pāpam mayi pitrā vinā kṛte । Bhrātṛbhyām ca parityakte sarva lokasya ca apriye ॥ ॥2-74-11॥
Translation
You are the prime cause of this sin, committed when I have been rendered fatherless, abandoned by my brothers, and have become disliked by the whole world.

तुम उस पाप का मुख्य कारण हो जो (तब किया गया) जब मैं पिता विहीन हो गया हूँ, भाइयों द्वारा त्याग दिया गया हूँ, और समस्त संसार का अप्रिय बन गया हूँ।
English Commentary
Bharata highlights his isolation and the central role Kaikeyi played in creating it (yat pradhānā asi). He describes himself as being in a state where he is without a father (pitrā vinā) and abandoned by his brothers (bhrātṛbhyām ca parityakte). Furthermore, he has become apriya (disliked or hateful) to the entire world because everyone assumes he conspired for the throne. He holds Kaikeyi responsible not just for the events, but for the terrible vacuum in which he now finds himself—leaderless, brotherless, and despised by his subjects.

भरत अपने वर्तमान स्थिति की दयनीयता का वर्णन करते हैं। वह कहते हैं कि वह अब पूरी तरह अकेले हैं—पिता नहीं रहे, भाई (राम-लक्ष्मण) चले गए, और जनता उनसे घृणा करती है ('सर्व लोकस्य च अप्रिये')। इस सब के मूल में, या 'प्रधान' कारण, कैकेयी है। भरत यह महसूस कर रहे हैं कि जिस समय उन्हें परिवार के समर्थन की सबसे अधिक आवश्यकता थी, उसी समय कैकेयी के पाप ने उन्हें अनाथ और परित्यक्त बना दिया। यह श्लोक उनके एकाकीपन और सामाजिक बहिष्कार के भय को दर्शाता है।
