एवम् उक्ता तु सुरभिः सुर राजेन धीमता ।
पत्युवाच ततः धीरा वाक्यम् वाक्य विशारदा ॥ ॥२-७४-२२॥
evam uktā tu surabhiḥ surarājena dhīmatā |
pratyuvāca tato dhīrā vākyam vākyaviśāradā ॥2-74-22॥
Translation
Thus addressed by the wise King of Gods, Surabhi, who was composed and skilled in speech, replied.

बुद्धिमान देवराज इन्द्र के द्वारा इस प्रकार कहे जाने पर, वाणी में निपुण और धैर्यशालिनी सुरभि ने उत्तर दिया।
English Commentary
Valmiki describes Surabhi as dhīrā (steady/composed) and vākyaviśāradā (expert in speech). Despite her overwhelming emotion earlier, she regains her composure to answer the King of Gods respectfully. The commentary highlights the transition from raw emotion to articulate communication. Even in deep distress, the wise know how to present their case. This verse acts as a narrative bridge, setting the tone for Surabhi's profound and eloquent explanation of her grief.
