Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
मातृ रूपे मम अमित्रे नृशम्से राज्य कामुके ।
न ते अहम् अभिभाष्यो अस्मि दुर्वृत्तिे पति घातिनि ॥ ॥२-७४-७॥
Mātṛ rūpe mama amitre nṛśamse rājya kāmuke । Na te aham abhibhāṣyo asmi durvṛtte pati ghātini ॥ ॥2-74-7॥
Translation
O enemy in the guise of a mother! O cruel woman lusting for the kingdom! O wicked one, slayer of your husband! I should not even speak to you.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे माता के रूप में मेरी शत्रु! हे क्रूर और राज्य की कामना करने वाली स्त्री! हे दुराचारिणी, पति की हत्या करने वाली! मैं तुमसे बात करने योग्य भी नहीं हूँ (मैं तुमसे बात नहीं करना चाहता)।
English Commentary
This verse contains some of the harshest invectives Bharata hurls at Kaikeyi. He calls her an enemy disguised as a mother (mātṛ rūpe mama amitre), effectively disowning her maternal authority. He labels her rājya kāmuke (lusting for power) and nṛśamse (cruel), exposing her motivations as selfish rather than protective. The ultimate accusation is pati ghātini (slayer of her husband). Bharata declares that she is no longer worthy of being spoken to (na abhibhāṣyo asmi), signifying a total severance of communication and relationship due to her wicked conduct (durvṛtte).

भरत यहाँ मर्यादा के सभी बंधनों को तोड़ते हुए कैकेयी को कठोरतम विशेषणों से संबोधित करते हैं। वह उसे 'मातृ रूपे मम अमित्रे' (माँ के वेश में शत्रु) कहते हैं, जो यह दर्शाता है कि उनका मातृ-भक्ति का भाव समाप्त हो चुका है। 'पति घातिनि' (पति की हत्यारी) कहकर वह उस पर राजा की मृत्यु का सीधा आरोप लगाते हैं। भरत घोषणा करते हैं कि ऐसी दुराचारी स्त्री के साथ संवाद करना भी पाप है। यह श्लोक भरत के पूर्ण मोहभंग और कैकेयी के प्रति उनके तीव्र वितृष्णा को प्रकट करता है।
