कौसल्या च सुमित्रा च याः च अन्या मम मातरः ।
दुह्खेन महता आविष्टाः त्वाम् प्राप्य कुल दूषिणीम् ॥ ॥२-७४-८॥
Kausalyā ca sumitrā ca yāḥ ca anyā mama mātaraḥ । Duhkhena mahatā āviṣṭāḥ tvām prāpya kula dūṣiṇīm ॥ ॥2-74-8॥
Translation
Having obtained you, the defiler of the family, Kausalya, Sumitra, and my other mothers are overwhelmed with great sorrow.
हिंदी अनुवाद
कुल को दूषित करने वाली तुम्हें पाकर, कौसल्या, सुमित्रा और मेरी अन्य माताएं (दशरथ की अन्य रानियां) महान दुख से घिर गई हैं।
English Commentary
Bharata shifts the focus to the collective suffering of the royal household. He specifically mentions Kausalya and Sumitra, highlighting that the misery has engulfed all the queens. He refers to Kaikeyi as kula dūṣiṇīm (the polluter or defiler of the lineage). By their association with her, the other righteous queens have been plunged into mahatā duhkhena (great sorrow). Bharata is accusing Kaikeyi of being a toxic element within the family structure, whose very presence has shattered the peace and happiness of the other mothers who deserved better.

भरत यहाँ केवल अपने दुख की बात नहीं कर रहे, बल्कि पूरे रनिवास की पीड़ा को उजागर कर रहे हैं। कौसल्या और सुमित््रा, जो धर्मपरायण और शांत स्वभाव की हैं, आज अत्यंत दुखी हैं। भरत इसका एकमात्र कारण कैकेयी को मानते हैं। वह उसे 'कुल दूषिणीम्' (कुल पर कलंक लगाने वाली) कहते हैं। रघुकुल में पत्नियों के बीच भी सौहार्द था, जिसे कैकेयी ने नष्ट कर दिया। भरत यह एहसास दिलाना चाहते हैं कि कैकेयी का अस्तित्व अब पूरे परिवार के लिए केवल पीड़ा का स्रोत बन गया है।
