उभे सम्ध्ये शयानस्य यत् पापम् परिकल्प्यते ।
तच् च पापम् भवेत् तस्य जस्य आर्यो अनुमते गतः ॥ ॥२-७५-४४॥
ubhe samdhye śayānasya yat pāpam parikalpyate । tac ca pāpam bhavet tasya yasya āryo anumate gataḥ ॥ ॥2-75-44॥
Translation
The sin that is ascribed to one who sleeps during both twilights (dawn and dusk)—may that very sin befall him with whose consent Arya went forth.

दोनों संध्याओं (सूर्योदय और सूर्यास्त) के समय सोने वाले को जो पाप लगता है, वही पाप उसे लगे जिसकी अनुमति से आर्य (राम) वन को गये हैं।
English Commentary
In the Vedic way of life, the two twilights (sandhyas)—sunrise and sunset—are sacred times dedicated to prayer, meditation, and the recitation of the Gayatri Mantra. Sleeping during these times is strictly prohibited and is considered a sin that leads to spiritual lethargy and loss of vitality (tejas). It implies a neglect of daily spiritual duties (nitya karma). By invoking this specific sin, Bharata appeals to the religious conscience of Queen Kausalya. He is essentially saying, 'May I be considered as negligent and spiritually fallen as a man who sleeps through his prayers,' emphasizing that conspiring against Rama is a dereliction of duty as grave as abandoning one's relationship with the Divine.

सनातन धर्म की दिनचर्या में 'संध्या वंदन' का विशेष महत्व है। सूर्योदय और सूर्यास्त का समय ईश्वर आराधना और गायत्री जाप के लिए निर्धारित है। शास्त्रों में कहा गया है कि जो व्यक्ति इन दोनों समय सोता है, वह लक्ष्मी और तेज से हीन हो जाता है और पाप का भागी बनता है। यह आलस्य और कर्तव्य-विमुखता का प्रतीक है। भरत एक अत्यंत धार्मिक और अनुशासित राजकुमार हैं। उनके लिए नित्य कर्मों का लोप होना एक बड़ा आध्यात्मिक पतन है। वे अपनी निर्दोषता सिद्ध करने के लिए अपने धार्मिक अनुशासन और नित्य पुण्य के नाश की बाजी लगा रहे हैं। यह शपथ उनकी आध्यात्मिक निष्ठा की गहराई को दर्शाती है।
