विहीनाम् पति पुत्राभ्याम् कौसल्याम् पार्थिव आत्मजः ।
एवम् आश्वसयन्न् एव दुह्ख आर्तः निपपात ह ॥ ॥२-७५-५९॥
vihīnām pati putrābhyām kausalyām pārthiva ātmajaḥ । evam āśvasayann eva duḥkha ārtaḥ nipapāta ha ॥ ॥2-75-59॥
Translation
While thus consoling Kausalya, who was bereft of both husband and son, the prince (Bharata), tormented by grief, fell down.
हिंदी अनुवाद
पति और पुत्र से हीन (वंचित) कौशल्या को इस प्रकार आश्वासन देते हुए ही, वह राजकुमार (भरत) दुःख से व्याकुल होकर गिर पड़े।
English Commentary
This verse marks the physical collapse of Bharata under the weight of his emotional turmoil. He is described as Parthiva Atmaja (son of the King), highlighting his royal status which makes his collapse on the floor even more dramatic. He was trying to console Kausalya, who had lost everything (husband dead, son exiled), but the intensity of his own oaths and the horror of the situation overwhelmed him. His falling down signifies the authenticity of his grief; it is not a calculated speech but a raw outpouring of soul that physically drains him.

यहाँ भरत के शपथ-ग्रहण का समापन होता है। लगातार कठोर शपथ लेते-लेते और आत्म-ग्लानि व शोक के अतिरेक के कारण भरत की शारीरिक शक्ति जवाब दे गई। 'निपपात ह' (गिर पड़े) शब्द उनकी मूर्छा या अत्यंत शिथिलता को दर्शाता है। वे कौशल्या को, जो विधवा हैं और जिनका पुत्र वन में है, सांत्वना देने का प्रयास कर रहे थे, लेकिन सत्य सिद्ध करने का तनाव इतना अधिक था कि वे स्वयं धराशायी हो गए। यह दृश्य अत्यंत करुण है—एक ओर पुत्र-वियोगिनी माता और दूसरी ओर भाई के वियोग और कलंक से पीड़ित पुत्र।
