आगतः क्रूर कार्यायाः कैकेय्या भरतः सुतः ।
तम् अहम् द्रष्टुम् इच्चामि भरतम् दीर्घ दर्शिनम् ॥ ॥२-७५-६॥
āgataḥ krūra kāryāyāḥ kaikeyya bharataḥ sutaḥ । tam aham draṣṭum iccāmi bharatam dīrgha darśinam ॥ ॥2-75-6॥
Translation
"Bharata, the son of Kaikeyi of cruel deeds, has arrived. I wish to see that far-sighted Bharata."

"क्रूर कर्म करने वाली कैकेयी का पुत्र भरत आया है। मैं उस दूरदर्शी भरत को देखना चाहती हूँ।"
English Commentary
Kausalya's dialogue reveals her complex emotional state. She identifies Bharata primarily through his mother, calling him the son of the one who did 'cruel deeds' (krūra kāryāyāḥ). However, she expresses a desire to see him. The epithet dīrgha darśinam (far-sighted) is ambiguous here. It could be interpreted as heavy irony—implying he 'foresaw' how to get the kingdom—or, more likely given her noble nature, she acknowledges his inherent wisdom and wants to gauge his reaction to the tragedy. Despite her devastation, she does not refuse to see him, showing her willingness to confront the source of her pain.
