लालप्यमानस्य विचेतनस्य ।
प्रनष्ट बुद्धेः पतितस्य भूमौ ।
मुहुर् मुहुर् निह्श्वसतः च दीर्घम् ।
सा तस्य शोकेन जगाम रात्रिः ॥ ॥२-७५-६५॥
lālapyamānasya vicetanasya । pranaṣṭa buddheḥ patitasya bhūmau । muhur muhur niḥśvasataḥ ca dīrgham । sā tasya śokena jagāma rātriḥ ॥ ॥2-75-65॥
Translation
While he lamented repeatedly, lying senseless on the ground with his intellect stupefied, sighing heavily again and again, that night passed for him in sheer grief.

बार-बार विलाप करते हुए, अचेत (बेसुध) हुए, जिसकी बुद्धि लुप्त हो गई थी, जो जमीन पर पड़े थे और बार-बार लंबी सांसें ले रहे थे, उस (भरत) की वह रात इसी शोक में बीत गई।
English Commentary
This concludes Sarga 75 with a somber image of the 'Dark Night of the Soul.' Bharata spends the night in a state of semi-consciousness, physically collapsed on the ground. The repetitive deep sighing (muhur muhur nihshvasatah) indicates physiological distress caused by sobbing and anxiety. The passing of the night signifies the end of the immediate reaction to the news and the confrontation with Kausalya. It serves as a narrative transition; the time for uncontrolled weeping is ending with the night, and the dawn will bring the stern demands of duty and funeral rites, requiring him to wake from this stupor.

यह अयोध्याकांड के 75वें सर्ग का अंतिम श्लोक है। यह एक कालरात्रि का वर्णन है। भरत की शारीरिक चेष्टाएँ—जमीन पर पड़े रहना, लंबी आहें भरना ('निह्श्वसतः दीर्घम्'), और बेसुध होना—उनके गहरे विषाद को दर्शाती हैं। 'प्रनष्ट बुद्धेः' का अर्थ है कि वे सोचने-समझने की शक्ति खो बैठे थे। पूरी रात इसी अवस्था में बीत गई। यह रात्रि अयोध्या के इतिहास की सबसे भारी रात्रियों में से एक है, जहाँ राजा मृत हैं, उत्तराधिकारी वन में है, और वर्तमान राजकुमार शोक में डूबा हुआ है। यह श्लोक आगामी सर्ग में कर्तव्य-पालन के लिए उठने से पहले के पूर्ण अंधकार को चित्रित करता है।
