ततः शत्रुघ्न भरतौ कौसल्याम् प्रेक्ष्य दुह्खितौ ।
पर्यष्वजेताम् दुह्ख आर्ताम् पतिताम् नष्ट चेतनाम् ॥ ॥२-७५-९॥
tataḥ śatrughna bharatau kausalyām prekṣya duḥkhitau । paryaṣvajetām duḥkha ārtām patitām naṣṭa cetanām ॥ ॥2-75-9॥
Translation
Then Shatrughna and Bharata, seeing Kausalya—who was stricken with grief, fallen on the ground, and barely conscious—became sorrowful and embraced her.

तब शत्रुघ्न और भरत ने दुखी होकर, शोक से पीड़ित, भूमि पर गिरी हुई और लगभग अचेत कौसल्या को देखकर उन्हें गले लगा लिया।
English Commentary
The climatic meeting is filled with pathos. The brothers find Kausalya in a state of collapse (patitām) and semiconsciousness (naṣṭa cetanām). Their reaction is immediate and physical—they embrace her. This act of embracing the fallen mother figure signifies their shared loss and their subservience to her pain. The grief is collective; the text notes the brothers are duḥkhitau (sorrowful) upon seeing her. This physical connection precedes any verbal defense, grounding the interaction in raw emotion before the accusations begin.

मिलन का यह क्षण अत्यंत भावुक है। भरत और शत्रुघ्न, कौसल्या की दयनीय दशा देखकर स्वयं को संभाल नहीं पाते। कौसल्या 'पतिताम्' (भूमि पर गिरी हुई) हैं, जो उनके असहाय होने का प्रतीक है। दोनों भाई उन्हें उठाते हैं और गले लगाते हैं। यह स्पर्श न केवल सांत्वना है, बल्कि एक मूक संवाद भी है। यहाँ कोई शब्द नहीं बोले गए, केवल दुःख का आदान-प्रदान हुआ। यह श्लोक यह भी स्पष्ट करता है कि भरत और शत्रुघ्न कौसल्या को अपनी सगी माँ के समान ही, या उससे भी अधिक आदर और प्रेम देते हैं।
