शिबिलायाम् अथ आरोप्य राजानम् गत चेतनम् ।
बाष्प कण्ठा विमनसः तम् ऊहुः परिचारकाः ॥ ॥२-७६-१४॥
Shibilayam atha aropya rajanam gata chetanam । Bashpa kantha vimanasah tam uhuh paricharakah ॥ ॥2-76-14॥
Translation
Then, placing the lifeless King upon a palanquin (shibika), the servants, with choked voices and heavy hearts, carried him.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तदनन्तर, प्राणरहित राजा को शिविका (पालकी) पर चढ़ाकर, रुंधे हुए गले वाले और उदास मन वाले सेवकों ने उन्हें उठाया।
English Commentary
This verse poignantly describes the emotional state of the attendants (paricharakas). Those who formerly awaited the King's every command are now carrying his lifeless body (gata chetanam). The phrase bashpa kantha (throats choked with tears) indicates they are so overcome with weeping that they cannot speak clearly. This validates King Dasharatha's benevolence and the personal love his staff bore for him; it is not merely a formal state procession but a deeply emotional farewell from his household staff.

यहाँ सेवकों (परिचारकों) की मनोदशा का मार्मिक चित्रण है। जो सेवक कल तक राजा की एक आज्ञा सुनने के लिए लालायित रहते थे, आज वे ही अपने स्वामी के निष्प्राण शरीर (गत चेतनम्) को कंधों पर उठा रहे हैं। 'बाष्प कण्ठा' दर्शाता है कि रोने के कारण उनका गला रुंध गया है और वे स्पष्ट बोल भी नहीं पा रहे हैं। यह दृश्य राजा दशरथ की लोकप्रियता और उनके प्रति उनके अनुचरों के व्यक्तिगत प्रेम को प्रमाणित करता है; यह केवल एक औपचारिक अंतिम यात्रा नहीं, बल्कि एक भावुक विदाई है।
