चन्दन अगुरु निर्यासान् सरलम् पद्मकम् तथा ।
देव दारूणि च आहृत्य चिताम् चक्रुस् तथा अपरे ॥ ॥२-७६-१६॥
Chandana aguru niryasan saralam padmakam tatha । Deva daruni cha ahritya chitam chakrus tatha apare ॥ ॥2-76-16॥
Translation
Others constructed the pyre by bringing sandalwood, aloe resin, sarala (pine), padmaka, and deodar wood.

अन्य लोगों ने चन्दन, अगर, सरल (चीड़), पद्मक और देवदारु की लकड़ियाँ तथा राल (गोंद) लाकर चिता तैयार की।
English Commentary
The King's pyre (chita) was not made of common wood, but of highly fragrant and sacred varieties fitting his royal stature. Sandalwood, aloe (aguru), and deodar purify and perfume the atmosphere when burnt. Niryasa refers to resins or gums that help ignite the fire and maintain a steady burn. This preparation emphasizes that the dissolution of the body into the five elements is treated with the same sanctity and aromatic purity as a Vedic sacrifice.

राजा की चिता सामान्य लकड़ियों से नहीं, बल्कि अत्यंत सुगंधित और औषधीय गुणों वाली लकड़ियों से बनाई गई। चन्दन, अगर और देवदारु जलने पर वातावरण को सुगंधित और शुद्ध करते हैं। यह राजा के ऐश्वर्य के अनुरूप है। 'निर्यास' का अर्थ है वृक्षों का गोंद या राल, जो ज्वलनशील होता है और अग्नि को प्रज्वलित करने में सहायता करता है। यह तैयारी दर्शाती है कि शरीर का पंचतत्व में विलीन होना भी एक पवित्र यज्ञ जैसा ही है।
