सम्वेश्य शयने च अग्र्ये नाना रत्न परिष्कृते ।
ततः दशरथम् पुत्रः विललाप सुदुह्खितः ॥ ॥२-७६-५॥
samveśya śayane ca agrye nānā ratna pariṣkṛte । tataḥ daśaratham putraḥ vilalāpa suduḥkhitaḥ ॥ ॥2-76-5॥
Translation
Having placed Dasharatha on a magnificent bier/bed decorated with various gems, his son (Bharata), stricken with immense grief, lamented.
हिंदी अनुवाद
राजा दशरथ को नाना प्रकार के रत्नों से सजाई गई उत्तम शय्या (अर्थी) पर लिटाकर, उनका पुत्र (भरत) अत्यंत दुखी होकर विलाप करने लगा।
English Commentary
The ritual proceeds with placing the King on the funeral bier (shayana), which is befittingly opulent, adorned with gems. However, the sight of his father's body, now out of the oil and prepared for burning, breaks Bharata's composed resolve. The text notes he lamented tatah (thereafter/then), indicating that while he followed the mechanical steps of the ritual, the emotional reality hit him afresh. It validates that performing one's duty does not negate the presence of deep sorrow.
हिंदी टीका
यद्यपि भरत ने धैर्य धारण कर लिया था, परंतु पिता के शव को प्रत्यक्ष देखकर उनका दुःख पुनः उमड़ पड़ा। यह स्वाभाविक मानवीय प्रतिक्रिया है। राजा की अर्थी को 'नाना रत्न परिष्कृते' (विभिन्न रत्नों से सजी हुई) बताया गया है, जो चक्रवर्ती सम्राट की गरिमा के अनुरूप है। भरत का विलाप यहाँ केवल रोना नहीं है, बल्कि पिता से अंतिम संवाद का प्रयास है। कर्तव्य (शव को शय्या पर रखना) और भावना (विलाप) का साथ-साथ चलना इस दृश्य को अत्यंत मार्मिक बनाता है।
