क्व यास्यसि महा राज हित्वा इमम् दुह्खितम् जनम् ।
हीनम् पुरुष सिम्हेन रामेण अक्लिष्ट कर्मणा ॥ ॥२-७६-७॥
kva yāsyasi mahā rāja hitvā imam duḥkhitam janam । hīnam puruṣa simhena rāmeṇa akliṣṭa karmaṇā ॥ ॥2-76-7॥
Translation
"Whither are you going, O Great King, leaving behind these grieving people who are bereft of that lion among men, Rama, the performer of unwearied deeds?"

"हे महाराज! पुरुष-सिंह और अनायास (सहज भाव से) महान कर्म करने वाले राम से रहित इस दुखी जन (प्रजा/परिवार) को छोड़कर आप कहाँ जा रहे हैं?"
English Commentary
Bharata mourns the double abandonment of the people. First, they lost Rama, the 'lion among men' (purusha simha) and the tireless worker for good (aklishta karmana). Now, they are losing the King himself. Bharata sees himself and the citizens as hina (bereft/forsaken). The question 'Where are you going?' highlights the finality of death and the feeling of desertion. He emphasizes that the King is leaving precisely when he is needed most, amidst the crisis of Rama's exile.

'अक्लिष्ट कर्मणा' राम का एक सुंदर विशेषण है—अर्थात वे जो कठिन कर्मों को भी बिना थके और बिना क्लेश के करते हैं। भरत कहते हैं कि राम के बिना प्रजा वैसे ही अनाथ है, और अब दशरथ के जाने से वह पूर्णतः असुरक्षित हो गई है। 'क्व यास्यसि' (कहाँ जा रहे हैं) मृत्यु के प्रति एक सनातन प्रश्न है। भरत को यह विश्वास नहीं हो रहा कि राजा अपनी प्रजा को इतनी दयनीय स्थिति में छोड़कर चले गए हैं। यह एक शासक के न रहने पर उत्पन्न होने वाले शून्य (void) को दर्शाता है।
