क्व तात भरतम् हित्वा विलपन्तम् गतः भवान् ।
ननु भोज्येषु पानेषु वस्त्रेष्व् आभरणेषु च ॥ ॥२-७७-१५॥
kva tāta bharatam hitvā vilapantam gataḥ bhavān । nanu bhojyeṣu pāneṣu vastreṣv ābharaṇeṣu ca ॥ ॥2-77-15॥
Translation
O Father! Where have you gone, leaving behind the wailing Bharata? Indeed, regarding food, drinks, clothes, and ornaments... (continues to next verse).

हे तात! विलाप करते हुए भरत को छोड़कर आप कहाँ चले गए? भोजन, पान, वस्त्र और आभूषणों के विषय में... (अगले श्लोक से अन्वय)।
English Commentary
Shatrughna's lamentation turns into a direct inquiry to the departed soul. By asking 'Where have you gone leaving Bharata?', he underscores the specific bond between the King and Bharata, whose grief is currently the most visible. The verse begins to list daily necessities—food, drink, clothing, ornaments. This highlights the micro-management of care that Dasharatha provided. In the ancient royal context, the King was not just a ruler but the provider and selector of all comforts for his children. Shatrughna feels the void of this paternal solicitude keenly.
