बास्तिकम् बहु शुक्लम् च गाः च अपि शतशः तथा ।
दासी दासम् च यानम् च वेश्मानि सुमहान्ति च ॥ ॥२-७७-३॥
Bastikam bahu shuklam cha gah cha api shatashah tatha । Dasi dasam cha yanam cha veshmani sumahanti cha ॥ ॥2-77-3॥
Translation
He donated herds of goats, much silver (or white wool/cloth), hundreds of cows, male and female servants, vehicles, and magnificent houses.

उन्होंने बहुत से बकरों (बास्तिकम्) के झुंड, चाँदी (या श्वेत वस्त्र/ऊनी कंबल), सैकड़ों गायें, दास-दासियाँ, वाहन और बड़े-बड़े मकान दान किए।
English Commentary
The list of donations is extensive. Bastikam refers to herds of goats, a significant form of pastoral wealth. Shuklam likely refers to silver or white woolen goods. Gaudan (gift of cows) is considered the most sacred donation in Hinduism. Bharata gave not only movable wealth but also immovable property like huge mansions (veshmani sumahanti). This resembles the concept of Shodasha Mahadana (sixteen great charities), performed to ensure the highest merit for the deceased King.

दान की सूची विस्तृत है। 'बास्तिकम्' शब्द बकरों या भेड़-बकरियों के समूह के लिए प्रयुक्त होता है, जो उस समय संपत्ति का एक रूप थे। 'शुक्लम्' का अर्थ यहाँ चाँदी या श्वेत ऊनी वस्त्रों से हो सकता है। गायें (गौदान) हिंदू धर्म में सबसे पवित्र दान मानी जाती हैं। भरत ने न केवल चल संपत्ति बल्कि अचल संपत्ति (वेश्मानि - घर) भी दान कीं। यह 'षोडश महादान' (सोलह प्रकार के महान दान) जैसा प्रतीत होता है, जो राजा की मुक्ति के लिए किया गया।
