पितुः शरीर निर्वाणम् निष्टनन् विषसाद ह ।
स तु दृष्ट्वा रुदन् दीनः पपात धरणी तले ॥ ॥२-७७-९॥
Pituh sharira nirvanam nishtanan vishasada ha । Sa tu drishtva rudan dinah papata dharani tale ॥ ॥2-77-9॥
Translation
Seeing the extinction of his father's body, he cried out aloud and sank into despair. Weeping piteously, he fell onto the ground.

पिता के शरीर के उस निर्वाण (विनाश/राख होने) को देखकर वे चीत्कार कर उठे और विषाद से भर गए। वह दीन होकर रोते हुए पृथ्वी पर गिर पड़े।
English Commentary
Sharira nirvanam is a powerful phrase here. Nirvana in this context means "extinguishment" or total dissolution. The fire is out, and the body is gone. Witnessing this finality, Bharata cries out (nishtanan - groaning or wailing loudly) and collapses. Falling to the ground (papata dharani tale) symbolizes his complete physical and emotional breakdown. The sight of the specific spot of incineration brings the abstract concept of death into undeniable, crushing reality.

'शरीर निर्वाणम्' एक शक्तिशाली वाक्यांश है। 'निर्वाण' का अर्थ यहाँ 'बुझ जाना' या 'समाप्त हो जाना' है। अग्नि शांत हो चुकी है और शरीर लुप्त हो चुका है। इसे देखकर भरत 'निष्टनन्' (जोर से चिल्लाते हुए या कराहते हुए) जमीन पर गिर पड़े। यह शारीरिक और मानसिक पतन की चरम सीमा है। एक शक्तिशाली राजकुमार का धूल में गिरना उसके आंतरिक विध्वंस का प्रतीक है।
