अमन्त्रयत कृत्स्नः च तस्याः सर्व सखी जनः ।
यथा अयम् समुपक्रान्तः निह्शेषम् नः करिष्यति ॥ ॥२-७८-१४॥
Amantrayata kṛtsnaḥ ca tasyāḥ sarva sakhī janaḥ । Yathā ayam samupakrāntaḥ niḥśeṣam naḥ kariṣyati ॥ ॥2-78-14॥
Translation
All her companions consulted among themselves: "The way he is proceeding, he will finish us all (leave no one remaining)."

उसकी (कैकेयी/मन्थरा की) सभी सखियों ने आपस में विचार-विमर्श किया कि "जिस प्रकार ये (शत्रुघ्न) आगे बढ़ रहे हैं, ये हम सबको समाप्त (निःशेष) कर देंगे।"
English Commentary
The panic escalates into paranoia. The maids interpret Shatrughna’s aggression as a purge of Kaikeyi's entire establishment. The phrase niḥśeṣam naḥ kariṣyati (he will leave none of us remaining) reveals their belief that Shatrughna has lost his discrimination and will kill anyone associated with the conspirators. This moment highlights the volatility of the situation; the palace is on the brink of internal bloodshed.

दासियों का डर इतना बढ़ गया है कि उन्हें लगता है शत्रुघ्न केवल मन्थरा को ही नहीं, बल्कि कैकेयी के पक्ष के हर व्यक्ति को मार डालेंगे। 'निह्शेषम्' का अर्थ है 'बिना शेष छोड़े' यानी पूर्ण विनाश। उन्हें भय है कि यह व्यक्तिगत दंड नहीं, बल्कि एक सामूहिक संहार (massacre) बन सकता है। यह शत्रुघ्न के अनियंत्रित क्रोध की भयावहता को दिखाता है, जहाँ निर्दोष भी अपनी जान के लिए डरने लगते हैं।
