Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
यस्याः कृते वने रामः न्यस्त देहः च वः पिता ।
सा इयम् पापा नृशम्सा च तस्याः कुरु यथा मति ॥ ॥२-७८-९॥
Yasyāḥ kṛte vane rāmaḥ nyasta dehaḥ ca vaḥ pitā । Sa iyam pāpā nṛśamsā ca tasyāḥ kuru yathā mati ॥ ॥2-78-9॥
Translation
(The doorkeeper said) "Because of whom Rama is in the forest and your father gave up his body—here is that sinful and cruel woman. Deal with her as you see fit."

(द्वारपाल ने कहा) "जिसके कारण राम वन में हैं और आपके पिता ने प्राण त्याग दिए, यह वही पापिनी और क्रूर स्त्री है। इसके साथ जैसा आप उचित समझें, वैसा करें।"
English Commentary
The doorkeeper frames the charges against Manthara clearly: she is the architect of the family's ruin. By linking her directly to the King's death (nyasta dehaḥ) and Rama's exile, he validates Shatrughna's earlier outburst. Handing her over with the words 'do as you see fit' (kuru yathā mati) is a tacit permission from the common folk for Shatrughna to exact vengeance. It highlights that Manthara has lost all protection and standing within the palace walls.

द्वारपाल यहाँ अभियोजक (prosecutor) की भूमिका निभा रहा है। वह शत्रुघ्न के सामने मन्थरा के दो मुख्य अपराधों को स्पष्ट करता है: राम का वनवास और दशरथ की मृत्यु। 'नृशम्सा' (क्रूर/हृदयहीन) शब्द का प्रयोग कर वह शत्रुघ्न के क्रोध को और भड़काता है। 'कुरु यथा मति' (जैसी आपकी मति हो, वैसा करें) कहकर वह मन्थरा को पूरी तरह शत्रुघ्न के न्याय—या दंड—पर छोड़ देता है। यह दर्शाता है कि सेवक भी चाहते थे कि उसे दंड मिले, पर अधिकार राजकुमार का था।
