Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
मन्थरा त्वभ्यसूयैनामुत्सृज्याभरणं च तत्।
उवाचेदं ततो वाक्यं कोपदुःखसमन्विता ॥ ॥२-८-१॥
Mantharā tvabhyasūyaināmutsṛjyābharaṇaṃ ca tat |
Uvācedaṃ tato vākyaṃ kopaduḥkhasamanvitā ॥2-8-1॥
Translation
But Manthara, filled with indignation, threw away that ornament. Then, filled with anger and sorrow, she spoke these words.

(किंतु) मंथरा ने इस पर ईर्ष्या (असूया) प्रकट की और उस आभूषण को फेंक दिया (त्याग दिया)। फिर क्रोध और दुःख से भरकर वह यह वचन बोली।
English Commentary
This is a highly visual and dramatic moment. The act of 'Utsṛjya' (throwing away/discarding) the ornament signifies Manthara’s utter frustration and rage. For a servant to discard a queen's gift is an act of extreme insolence, highlighting the intensity of the crisis. 'Abhyasūya' (indignation/jealousy) drives her. Diplomacy is over; she now switches to direct confrontation and emotional assault. The physical rejection of the jewel symbolizes her rejection of the narrative that Rama’s coronation is good news.
