भ्रात्R^ऊन्भऋत्यांश्च दीर्घायुः पितृवत्पालयिष्यति ।
संतप्यसे कथं कुब्जे श्रुत्वा रामाभिषेचनम् ॥२-८-१५॥
Bhrātrūn bhṛtyāṃśca dīrghāyuḥ pitṛvat pālayiṣyati |
Saṃtapyase kathaṃ kubje śrutvā Rāmābhiṣecanam ॥2-8-15॥
Translation
That long-lived one (Rama) will protect his brothers and servants like a father. O Hunchback, why are you distressed upon hearing of Rama's coronation?
हिंदी अनुवाद
वे दीर्घायु (राम) अपने भाइयों और सेवकों का पिता के समान पालन करेंगे। अरी कुबड़ी! राम के अभिषेक की बात सुनकर तू क्यों जल रही है?
English Commentary
Kaikeyi dismisses Manthara’s argument that Rama’s kingship poses a threat to Bharata. She has absolute faith that Rama will care for everyone 'pitṛvat' (like a father). She addresses Manthara as 'Kubje' (Hunchback), which may refer not only to her physical deformity but also metaphorically to her twisted mindset. Kaikeyi genuinely cannot understand the reason for Manthara’s distress, as in her eyes, Rama’s coronation is good news for the entire family.

कैकेयी मंथरा के इस तर्क को खारिज करती है कि राम के राजा बनने से भरत को खतरा है। उसे पूर्ण विश्वास है कि राम 'पितृवत्' (पिता की तरह) सबकी देखभाल करेंगे। वह मंथरा को 'कुब्जे' (कुबड़ी) कहकर संबोधित करती है, जो यहाँ केवल शारीरिक विवरण नहीं, बल्कि उसकी वक्र बुद्धि (टेढ़ी सोच) पर भी कटाक्ष हो सकता है। कैकेयी मंथरा के दुख का कारण नहीं समझ पा रही है क्योंकि उसकी दृष्टि में राम का राजा बनना पूरे परिवार के लिए शुभ समाचार है।
