असावत्यन्तनिर्भग्न स्तवपुत्रो भविष्यति ।
अनाथवत्सुखेभ्यश्च राजवंशाच्च वत्सले ॥२-८-२५॥
Asāvatyantanirbhagna stavaputro bhaviṣyati |
Anāthavatsukhebhyaśca rājavaṃśācca vatsale ॥2-8-25॥
Translation
O affectionate one, this son of yours (Bharata) will be completely ruined, cut off from the royal lineage and from all comforts, like an orphan.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे वत्सल (स्नेही)! तुम्हारा यह पुत्र (भरत) अनाथ की तरह सुखों से और राजवंश से भी अत्यंत दूर (वंचित) हो जाएगा।
English Commentary
Manthara now employs emotional blackmail. She compares Bharata to an 'orphan' (anātha), even though King Dasharatha is alive. She implies that once Rama is King, the entire system will serve him, leaving Bharata without protection or status. The term 'atyantanirbhagna' (completely shattered/ruined) paints a pathetic picture of Bharata's future. Manthara challenges Kaikeyi’s maternal instinct ('vatsale'), questioning if she can bear to see her son in such a destitute state.

मंथरा अब भावनात्मक ब्लैकमेल का प्रयोग करती है। वह भरत की तुलना एक 'अनाथ' से करती है, जबकि उसके पिता राजा दशरथ जीवित हैं। उसका तात्पर्य है कि राम के राजा बनते ही दशरथ और पूरी व्यवस्था राम के अधीन हो जाएगी, और भरत का कोई रक्षक नहीं रहेगा। 'अत्यन्तनिर्भग्न' (पूरी तरह टूटा हुआ) शब्द भरत की दयनीय स्थिति को दर्शाता है। मंथरा कैकेयी की ममता ('वत्सले') को ललकार रही है कि क्या वह अपने बेटे की ऐसी दुर्गति देख सकेगी?
