अचिरेण एव कालेन परिवाहान् बहु उदकान् ।
चक्रुर् बहु विध आकारान् सागर प्रतिमान् बहून् ॥२-८०-११॥
acireṇa eva kālena parivāhān bahu udakān |
cakrur bahu vidha ākārān sāgara pratimān bahūn ॥2-80-11॥
Translation
Within a very short time, they constructed many reservoirs of various shapes, filled with abundant water, resembling oceans.
हिंदी अनुवाद
बहुत ही कम समय में उन्होंने बहुत से जल वाले और सागर के समान विशाल, अनेक आकारों वाले जलाशयों (परिवाहों) का निर्माण कर दिया।
English Commentary
Water logistics are critical for any large expedition. This verse applauds the speed (acireṇa eva kālena) with which the engineers solved the water problem. They created parivāhān—channels or reservoirs—that were vast enough to be compared to oceans, ensuring enough water for thousands of people, elephants, and horses. The phrase bahu vidha ākārān (various shapes) suggests adaptive engineering; they designed these water bodies to fit the topography rather than forcing a standard template. This feat highlights the resourcefulness of Ayodhya’s workforce. Creating such massive water resources in a wilderness in such short time is presented as a miraculous feat of human labor driven by devotion.

सेना और पशुओं के लिए जल की व्यवस्था सबसे महत्वपूर्ण थी। 'अचिरेण एव कालेन' (बहुत ही कम समय में) उनकी दक्षता और गति को दर्शाता है। 'परिवाह' का अर्थ यहाँ कृत्रिम जलाशय या नहरों से है जो जल को रोककर रखते हैं। उनकी तुलना 'सागर' से करना यह बताता है कि वे विशाल थे, ताकि पूरी सेना की प्यास बुझ सके। 'बहु विध आकारान्' (अनेक आकारों वाले) से पता चलता है कि उन्होंने भूमि की बनावट के अनुसार कहीं गोल, कहीं चौकोर, या कहीं प्राकृतिक ढलान का उपयोग करते हुए जलाशयों का निर्माण किया। यह जल प्रबंधन (water management) का उत्कृष्ट उदाहरण है, जो किसी भी बड़े अभियान की रीढ़ होती है।
