विसर्पत्भिर् इव आकाशे विटन्क अग्र विमानकैः ।
समुच्च्रितैः निवेशाः ते बभुः शक्र पुर उपमाः ॥२-८०-२०॥
visarpatbhir iva ākāśe viṭanka agra vimānakaiḥ |
samuccritaiḥ niveśāḥ te babhuḥ śakra pura upamāḥ ॥2-80-20॥
Translation
With lofty seven-storied mansions (or tower-like tents) having dove-cots at the top, which seemed to soar into the sky, that encampment shone like the city of Indra.
हिंदी अनुवाद
आकाश में उड़ते हुए से प्रतीत होने वाले, कबूतरों के दड़बों (विटंक) वाले ऊँचे-ऊँचे विमानों (भवनों/तंबुओं) के कारण वह शिविर इंद्रपुरी (अमरावती) के समान सुशोभित हो रहा था।
English Commentary
This verse focuses on the vertical grandeur of the temporary city. The structures, likely elaborate pavilions or tents, are described as vimānakaiḥ, reaching high enough to seem like they are touching or moving in the sky (ākāśe visarpatbhir iva). The detail of viṭanka (cornices, pinnacles, or dove-cots) suggests intricate architectural detailing, not just functional shelter. Comparing the camp to Śakra pura (Indra's city, Amaravati) is the ultimate praise for its splendor. It suggests a celestial quality to the encampment, reinforcing the divine nature of the mission and the royal status of its leader, Bharata.

यहाँ शिविर की ऊर्ध्वाधर (vertical) भव्यता का वर्णन है। 'विमानकैः' का अर्थ यहाँ ऊँचे भवन या बहुमंजिला तंबू है। 'विटन्क' का अर्थ छत का मुंडेर या कबूतरों का स्थान होता है, जो वास्तुकला की बारीकी को दर्शाता है। ये संरचनाएँ इतनी ऊँची थीं कि आकाश में 'विसर्पत्भिर् इव' (मानो रेंग रही हों या उड़ रही हों) प्रतीत होती थीं। उपमा के रूप में 'शक्र पुर' (इंद्र की नगरी) का प्रयोग ऐश्वर्य की पराकाष्ठा को व्यक्त करता है। वन के प्राकृतिक वातावरण में यह कृत्रिम वैभव एक अलौकिक दृश्य प्रस्तुत कर रहा था।
