ताम् आर्य गण सम्पूर्णाम् भरतः प्रग्रहाम् सभाम् ।
ददर्श बुद्धि सम्पन्नः पूर्ण चन्द्राम् निशाम् इव ॥ ॥२-८२-१॥
Tām ārya gaṇa sampūrṇām Bharataḥ pragrahām sabhām । Dadarśa buddhi sampannaḥ pūrṇa candrām niśām iva ॥ ॥2-82-1॥
Translation
The wise Bharata viewed that assembly, filled with groups of noble men and observing strict decorum, looking like a night illuminated by the full moon.

बुद्धिमान भरत ने उस सभा को देखा जो श्रेष्ठ जनों (आर्य गण) से भरी हुई थी और मर्यादा से युक्त थी, मानो वह पूर्ण चंद्रमा से युक्त रात्रि हो।
English Commentary
Bharata is described as buddhisampannah (endowed with intelligence), suggesting he perceives the gravity of the moment. The simile of the "full moon night" evokes beauty, solemnity, and a sense of completeness, contrasting with the "darkness" of the king's death. The assembly is described as pragrahām, meaning restrained or disciplined. This indicates that despite the crisis, the institutional framework of Ayodhya is intact. Bharata realizes he is walking into a formal request for coronation, and his wisdom allows him to anticipate the arguments the elders are about to present.

यहाँ भरत को 'बुद्धिसम्पन्नः' कहा गया है, जिसका अर्थ है कि वे स्थिति की गंभीरता और सभा के मंतव्य को समझने में सक्षम थे। सभा की तुलना 'पूर्णमासी की रात्रि' से की गई है। जिस प्रकार रात्रि में चंद्रमा शीतलता और प्रकाश देता है, उसी प्रकार विद्वानों की उपस्थिति सभा को गरिमा प्रदान कर रही थी। 'प्रग्रहाम्' शब्द का अर्थ है नियम और मर्यादा में बंधी हुई। भरत ने देखा कि सभी मंत्री और अधिकारी अनुशासित हैं और उनसे नेतृत्व की अपेक्षा कर रहे हैं। यह दृश्य भरत पर राज्य स्वीकार करने का मौन दबाव बना रहा था।
