तत् वाक्यम् धर्म सम्युक्तम् श्रुत्वा सर्वे सभासदः ।
हर्षान् मुमुचुर् अश्रूणि रामे निहित चेतसः ॥ ॥२-८२-१७॥
Tat vākyam dharma samyuktam śrutvā sarve sabhāsadaḥ । Harṣān mumucur aśrūṇi Rāme nihita cetasaḥ ॥ ॥2-82-17॥
Translation
"Hearing that speech endowed with Dharma, all the members of the assembly, their minds fixed on Rama, shed tears out of joy."

"भरत के उस धर्म-युक्त वचन को सुनकर, राम में चित्त लगाने वाले सभी सभासदों ने हर्ष के कारण आंसू बहाए।"
English Commentary
The assembly's reaction serves as a verdict. They classify Bharata’s refusal as dharma samyuktam (united with righteousness), implicitly overriding Vasistha's earlier counsel. The tears of joy reveal the collective psyche of the court—they were heartbroken by Rama's exile and are relieved that Bharata shares their sentiment. The phrase Rāme nihita cetasaḥ (minds fixed on Rama) confirms that despite the transfer of power protocols, the loyalty of the state apparatus still lies with the exiled prince.

यह श्लोक 'लोकमत' (Public Opinion) के परिवर्तन को दर्शाता है। पहले जो सभा वसिष्ठ के प्रस्ताव पर चुप थी, अब भरत के त्याग को देखकर भावविभोर हो गई। भरत के वचनों को 'धर्म संयुक्तम्' कहा गया है, जिसका अर्थ है कि सभा ने मान लिया कि वसिष्ठ की व्यावहारिक सलाह की तुलना में भरत का भावनात्मक त्याग अधिक 'धार्मिक' है। 'हर्षान् मुमुचुर् अश्रूणि' (हर्ष से आंसू बहाए) यह दिखाता है कि प्रजा भी राम की वापसी चाहती थी, लेकिन वे कहने का साहस नहीं कर पा रहे थे। भरत ने उनकी दबी हुई इच्छा को स्वर दे दिया।
