निवेश्य गन्गाम् अनु ताम् महा नदीम् ।
चमूम् विधानैः परिबर्ह शोभिनीम् ।
उवास रामस्य तदा महात्मनो ।
विचिन्तयानो भरतः निवर्तनम् ॥ ॥२-८३-२६॥
Niveśya gangām anu tām mahā nadīm । Camūm vidhānaiḥ paribarha śobhinīm । Uvāsa rāmasya tadā mahātmano । Vicintayāno bharataḥ nivartanam ॥ ॥2-83-26॥
Translation
Having encamped that army, resplendent with its baggage and equipment, along the great river Ganges according to rule, Bharata stayed there, deeply contemplating the return of the high-souled Rama.
हिंदी अनुवाद
उस महानदी गंगा के किनारे, उत्तम सामग्री से सुशोभित उस सेना को विधिपूर्वक ठहराकर, भरत महात्मा राम को लौटाने का विचार करते हुए वहीं रहे।
English Commentary
The canto concludes with a striking image. The army, described as paribarha śobhinīm (beautiful/shining with its equipment/baggage), is settled along the river. In contrast to the physical settlement of the troops, Bharata's mind is restless. He remains there (uvāsa), but his activity is internal: vicintayānaḥ (thinking deeply/contemplating). His sole focus is nivartanam (the return/bringing back) of the mahātmano (high-souled) Rama. This ending reiterates the central theme: the external grandeur of the procession serves only one purpose—the internal resolution of Bharata to rectify the injustice done to his brother.
हिंदी टीका
इस सर्ग (अध्याय) का समापन श्लोक। सेना 'परिबर्ह शोभिनीम्' है, यानी अपने साजो-सामान और उपकरणों के साथ भव्य लग रही है। सेना को 'विधानैः' (नियमपूर्वक) ठहरा दिया गया है। लेकिन अंतिम पंक्तियाँ भरत की मानसिक स्थिति पर केंद्रित हैं। जहाँ पूरी सेना विश्राम कर रही है, भरत 'विचिन्तयानः' (गहरा विचार करते हुए) जाग रहे हैं या ध्यानमग्न हैं। उनका एकमात्र चिंतन 'रामस्य निवर्तनम्' (राम को लौटाना) है। राम के लिए 'महात्मनो' विशेषण उनके प्रति आदर को दर्शाता है। यह श्लोक भीड़ के बीच भरत के एकाकीपन और उनके लक्ष्य के प्रति उनकी अविचल निष्ठा को सुंदरता से प्रस्तुत करता है।
