महतीयम् इतः सेना सागराभा प्रदृश्यते ।
नास्या अन्तम् अवगच्छामि मनसापि विचिन्तयन् ॥ ॥२-८४-२॥
Mahatīyam itaḥ senā sāgarābhā pradṛśyate |
Nāsyā antam avagacchāmi manasāpi vicintayan ॥2-84-2॥
Translation
This huge army here appears like an ocean. Even upon thinking it over with my mind, I cannot perceive its end.

यह विशाल सेना यहाँ समुद्र के समान प्रतीत हो रही है। मन से विचार करने पर भी मुझे इसका कोई अंत (छोर) दिखाई नहीं दे रहा है।
English Commentary
Guha employs the metaphor 'sagarābhā' (looking like the ocean) to describe the sheer magnitude of the Ayodhya army. This hyperbole emphasizes the overwhelming power Bharata commands compared to the exiled Rama. The phrase 'manasāpi vicintayan' (even reflecting upon it with the mind) suggests that the army’s scale defies not just vision, but imagination. This description serves two purposes: it validates the might of the Ikshvaku lineage, and it heightens the tension, as Guha realizes the massive odds stacked against Rama should this force be hostile. It underscores the gravity of the situation from the perspective of a tribal chieftain observing imperial might.

यहाँ गुह भरत की सेना की विशालता का वर्णन 'सागराभा' (सागर जैसी आभा वाली) कहकर कर रहे हैं। अयोध्या की चतुरंगिणी सेना का विस्तार इतना अधिक है कि निषादराज, जो उस क्षेत्र के भूगोल के स्वामी हैं, उन्हें भी सेना का ओर-छोर नहीं मिल रहा है। 'मनसापि विचिन्तयन्' का अर्थ है कि कल्पना में भी इसका अंत समझ नहीं आ रहा। यह भय और विस्मय का मिश्रित भाव है। गुह यह सोचकर चिंतित हैं कि यदि इतनी विशाल सेना शत्रुता के भाव से आई है, तो वनवासी राम का सामना कैसे करेंगे। यह वर्णन आने वाले संघर्ष (या कल्पित संघर्ष) के पैमाने को निर्धारित करता है।
