तस्य तत् वचनम् श्रुत्वा राज पुत्रस्य धीमतः ।
अब्रवीत् प्रान्जलिर् वाक्यम् गुहो गहन गोचरः ॥ ॥२-८५-५॥
tasya tat vacanam śrutvā rāja putrasya dhīmataḥ । abravīt prāñjalir vākyam guho gahana gocaraḥ ॥ ॥2-85-5॥
Translation
Hearing those words of the wise Prince, Guha, who was familiar with the dense forests, replied with folded hands.
हिंदी अनुवाद
बुद्धिमान राजकुमार भरत के उन वचनों को सुनकर, वन (गहन) के मार्गों को भली-भांति जानने वाले गुह ने हाथ जोड़कर उत्तर दिया।
English Commentary
The epithet "gahana gocaraḥ" (one who frequents/knows the dense thickets) perfectly qualifies Guha to answer Bharata’s query. It confirms his expertise in the very terrain Bharata found difficult. Bharata is again called "dhīmataḥ" (wise) for realizing he needed a guide. Guha responds "prāñjalir" (with joined palms), maintaining his respectful posture. The interaction shows a harmony between royal wisdom and tribal expertise, bridged by mutual respect.

यहाँ गुह के लिए 'गहन गोचरः' विशेषण का प्रयोग बहुत महत्वपूर्ण है। इसका अर्थ है 'जो गहन वन में विचरण करता हो' या 'जो वन के चप्पे-चप्पे को जानता हो'। भरत 'धीमतः' (बुद्धिमान) हैं क्योंकि उन्होंने सही व्यक्ति से रास्ता पूछा। गुह 'प्रांजलि' (हाथ जोड़कर) उत्तर देते हैं, जो उनकी विनयशीलता है। यद्यपि गुह रास्ते के जानकार हैं और भरत अनजान, फिर भी गुह का व्यवहार एक सेवक जैसा ही रहता है, वे अपनी विशेषज्ञता का अहंकार नहीं करते।
