Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
तम् एवम् अभिभाषन्तम् आकाशैव निर्मलः ।
भरतः श्लक्ष्णया वाचा गुहम् वचनम् अब्रवीत् ॥ ॥२-८५-८॥
tam evam abhibhāṣantam ākāśaiva nirmalaḥ । bharataḥ ślakṣṇayā vācā guham vacanam abravīt ॥ ॥2-85-8॥
Translation
To Guha, who spoke in this manner, Bharata, who was as pure as the cloudless sky, replied in a gentle voice.
हिंदी अनुवाद
इस प्रकार कहते हुए गुह से, आकाश के समान निर्मल (हृदय वाले) भरत ने अत्यंत कोमल वाणी में यह वचन कहा।
English Commentary
The poet uses a sublime simile here: ākāśa iva nirmalaḥ (pure like the sky). Just as the sky remains untainted by the clouds that pass through it, Bharata’s heart is free from the pollution of greed or malice. Despite Guha’s accusatory tone, Bharata responds with ślakṣṇayā vācā (gentle/smooth speech). This lack of defensiveness or anger proves his innocence. He recognizes that Guha’s suspicion stems from love for Rama, and thus, instead of being offended by the insinuation, Bharata validates it with a soft response.
हिंदी टीका
यहाँ वाल्मीकि जी ने भरत के लिए 'आकाश इव निर्मलः' (आकाश की तरह निर्मल) उपमा का प्रयोग किया है। जिस प्रकार आकाश अनंत और दाग-धब्बों से रहित होता है, वैसे ही भरत का हृदय राम के प्रति प्रेम में स्वच्छ है। गुह का प्रश्न चुभने वाला था, फिर भी भरत क्रोधित नहीं हुए। उन्होंने 'श्लक्ष्णया वाचा' (कोमल/मधुर वाणी) में उत्तर दिया। यह भरत की सहनशीलता और परिपक्वता को दर्शाता है। वे समझते हैं कि गुह की शंका राम के प्रति उनके प्रेम के कारण ही है, इसलिए वे गुह के संदेह का सम्मान करते हैं।
