कौसल्या चैव राजा च तथा एव जननी मम ।
न आशम्से यदि ते सर्वे जीवेयुः शर्वरीम् इमाम् ॥ ॥२-८६-१५॥
Kausalyā caiva rājā ca tathā eva jananī mama । Na āśamse yadi te sarve jīveyuḥ śarvarīm imām ॥ ॥2-86-15॥
Translation
Kausalya, the King, and even my own mother—I do not hope (expect) that they will all survive this night.
हिंदी अनुवाद
कौसल्या, महाराज (दशरथ) और मेरी माता (कैकेयी)—मुझे आशा नहीं है कि वे सब इस (दुःख भरी) रात को भी जीवित काट पाएंगे।
English Commentary
Bharata expresses his deepest fears regarding the survival of his elders. He lists Kausalya, King Dasharatha, and even his own mother, Kaikeyi, stating that he does not expect (na āśamse) them to survive through this very night (śarvarīm imām). The grief is so overwhelming that he believes it to be immediately fatal. It is notable that he includes Kaikeyi; despite her actions, he assumes the magnitude of the tragedy—or the death of the King—might consume her as well. This verse captures the urgency of his anxiety; he feels that the foundation of his family is crumbling at that very moment while he is away.
हिंदी टीका
भरत की निराशा यहाँ चरम सीमा पर है। वे अयोध्या में अपने माता-पिता के जीवित रहने की संभावना पर संदेह प्रकट कर रहे हैं। वे केवल पिता की ही नहीं, बल्कि माता कौसल्या और यहाँ तक कि अपनी माता कैकेयी के जीवन को लेकर भी आशंकित हैं। 'शर्वरीम् इमाम्' (इस रात) का उल्लेख यह दिखाता है कि संकट कितना आसन्न है। भरत को लगता है कि वियोग का आघात इतना तीव्र है कि शायद भोर होने तक कोई भी जीवित न बचे। यद्यपि कैकेयी ने ही वनवास माँगा था, फिर भी भरत को लगता है कि परिणाम की भयानकता और पति-वियोग उसे भी समाप्त कर सकता है। यह भरत के मन में चल रहे भय और अनिश्चितता का द्योतक है।
