अपि सत्य प्रतिज्नेन सार्धम् कुशलिना वयम् ।
निवृत्ते समये ह्य् अस्मिन् सुखिताः प्रविशेमहि ॥२-८६-२२॥
Api satya pratijnena sārdham kuśalinā vayam । Nivṛtte samaye hy asmin sukhitāḥ praviśemahi ॥ ॥2-86-22॥
Translation
Shall we too, along with the one who is true to his vows (Rama), enter (Ayodhya) happily and safely once this time (of exile) has been completed?

क्या हम भी सत्यप्रतिज्ञ (राम) के साथ, इस (वनवास के) समय के पूरा हो जाने पर, कुशलपूर्वक और सुख से (अयोध्या में) पुनः प्रवेश करेंगे?
English Commentary
Amidst his lamentation, Bharata voices a desperate hope. He wonders if the day will come when they can re-enter Ayodhya alongside Rama. He explicitly refers to Rama as satya pratijnena (one who is true to his vows), acknowledging that Rama will not return before the exile term ends. Thus, Bharata’s wish is projected into the distant future—after the time has elapsed (nivṛtte samaye). He prays for that moment of happy reunion and return. It reveals Bharata’s deep desire not just for Rama’s return, but for the restoration of the family unit and their collective return to happiness.

घोर निराशा के बीच आशा की एक किरण। भरत यहाँ एक प्रश्नवाचक इच्छा ('अपि') व्यक्त करते हैं। वे जानते हैं कि राम 'सत्य प्रतिज्ञ' हैं—अर्थात वे अपने वचन से डिगेंगे नहीं और १४ वर्ष पूरे करेंगे। इसलिए भरत प्रार्थना करते हैं कि क्या वह दिन आएगा जब यह कठिन समय ('निवृत्ते समये') बीत जाएगा और वे राम के साथ वापस लौटेंगे? 'कुशलिना' शब्द महत्वपूर्ण है, वे सबकी सुरक्षा की कामना कर रहे हैं। यह श्लोक भरत के संकल्प को भी दिखाता है कि यदि राम नहीं लौटेंगे, तो भरत भी वन में ही समय बिताने की प्रतीक्षा करेंगे, ताकि अंततः साथ ही लौट सकें।
