Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
न हि रामात् प्रियतरो मम अस्ति भुवि कश्चन ।
मा उत्सुको भूर् ब्रवीम्य् एतद् अप्य् असत्यम् तव अग्रतः ॥ ॥२-८६-५॥
na hi rāmāt priyataro mama asti bhuvi kaścana । mā utsuko bhūr bravīmy etad apy asatyam tava agrataḥ ॥ ॥2-86-5॥
Translation
"Indeed, there is no one on this earth dearer to me than Rama. Do not be anxious/doubtful; I speak this truth before you, there is no untruth in it."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"इस पृथ्वी पर राम से बढ़कर मेरा कोई प्रिय नहीं है। आप (मेरे इस कथन पर) अन्यथा विचार (उत्सुक) न करें (अर्थात शंका न करें); मैं आपके सामने यह सत्य ही कह रहा हूँ, इसमें कुछ भी असत्य नहीं है।"
English Commentary
Guha justifies his offer to guard Rama by declaring his supreme love for him. He states unequivocally that no one on earth is dearer to him than Rama. He asks Lakshmana not to be "utsukaḥ" (anxious/concerned) about Rama's safety in his hands. He clarifies that his offer isn't just polite formality but stems from deep affection. He assures Lakshmana that he is speaking the absolute truth ("asatyam" is negated), trying to persuade Lakshmana to relinquish his post for the night.
हिंदी टीका
गुह लक्ष्मण को विश्वास दिलाना चाहते हैं कि यदि वे पहरा देंगे तो राम पूरी तरह सुरक्षित रहेंगे, क्योंकि राम उनके लिए प्राणों से भी प्यारे हैं। 'न हि रामात् प्रियतरो'—राम से अधिक प्रिय कोई नहीं। गुह कहते हैं 'मा उत्सुको भूः'—चिंता मत करो या अधीर मत हो। गुह को लगता है कि शायद लक्ष्मण को उन पर भरोसा न हो, इसलिए वे शपथपूर्वक कहते हैं कि मैं आपके सामने ('तव अग्रतः') सत्य कह रहा हूँ। यह एक भक्त का दूसरे भक्त के प्रति अपने प्रेम का प्रमाण है।
