Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
तत् श्रुत्वा निपुणम् सर्वम् भरतः सह मन्त्रिभिः ।
इन्गुदी मूलम् आगम्य राम शय्याम् अवेक्ष्य ताम् ॥ ॥२-८८-१॥
Tat śrutvā nipuṇam sarvam bharataḥ saha mantribhiḥ । Ingudī mūlam āgamya rāma śayyām avekṣya tām ॥ ॥2-88-1॥
Translation
Having heard all that in detail, Bharata, accompanied by his ministers, went to the foot of the Ingudi tree and gazed upon that bed of Rama.
हिंदी अनुवाद
गुह से वह सारा वृत्तांत विस्तारपूर्वक सुनकर, भरत मंत्रियों सहित उस इंगुदी वृक्ष के मूल (जड़) के पास गए और श्रीराम की उस (घास की) शैया को देखा।
English Commentary
This verse marks the shift from Guha’s narration to Bharata’s visceral reaction. Having listened nipuṇam (attentively/skilfully) to the details, Bharata moves to inspect the site. The presence of ministers indicates that this is a witnessed event, validating the hardship of the King-in-exile. When Bharata avekṣya (gazed/observed) the bed, it suggests a deep, contemplative looking. He is processing the reality of the situation. The physical movement to the tree root signifies a pilgrimage of sorrow, moving from the story of the hardship to the tangible evidence of it.

यहाँ से भरत की प्रतिक्रिया आरम्भ होती है। 'निपुणम्' शब्द दर्शाता है कि भरत ने केवल सुना नहीं, बल्कि हर छोटी-बड़ी बात को गहराई से समझा। मंत्रियों के साथ जाने का अर्थ है कि यह केवल व्यक्तिगत दुःख नहीं, बल्कि राज्य के लिए भी एक गंभीर क्षण है। 'अवेक्ष्य' (ध्यानपूर्वक देखकर) – भरत उस शैया को केवल देख नहीं रहे हैं, बल्कि मानो उस पर श्रीराम की उपस्थिति को महसूस करने का प्रयास कर रहे हैं। यह क्षण सन्नाटे का है, जहाँ भरत उस भौतिक प्रमाण के सामने खड़े हैं जो उनके भाई के त्याग और उनकी स्वयं की 'ग्लानि' का प्रतीक है।
